The VW Cross Polo will debut at the Geneva Motor Show
No, it’s not an angry version of the 2010 Volkswagen Polo but VW’s fake off-road version of the latest Polo designed to appeal to those who want a rufty-tufty car to cope with the demands of the Urban Jungle. The Cross Polo (we’d expected it to be the ‘CrossPolo’ as the Germans like to run words together, like ‘BlueEfficiency’ or EfficientDynamics, but the graphics on the Polo make it clear it’s the ‘Cross Polo’) is the latest version of the 2010 Polo to be revealed. Just this week we’ve had the 2010 Polo GTI and the 2010 VW Polo BlueMotion (see – it’s those joined together names again) and the Cross Polo makes the hat trick for pre-Geneva.
2014 Lotus Elise - will get new 4-pot Lotus engine
It seems that Lotus are deadly serious in their plans to build an all new V8 engine to drop in to the new Lotus Esprit, and it also seems as though the Lotus engine revival isn’t going to end there. The headline act is an all new modular Lotus V8 of 4.8 litres and boasting 562bhp. This is planned for the new Esprit, which is the only one of the crop of Lotus concepts actually under development, and will be ready to fire up in just a couple of months.
Leica, the German camera maker, introduced the Walter de'Silva-designed Leica M9 Titanium edition camera recently at Photokina, the biannual photo gathering in Germany. De'Silva, head of design for Volkswagen and responsible for designing the Audi A5 and Volkswagen Scirocco, took Leica's original M9 camera and created the M9 Titanium. De'Silva employed his Audi design team to assist in the project.
